Want to keep your child engaged in learning during the summer? Here are some great resources for you to explore:

Our TPES teachers have created a list  of great summer reads by grade level. Don't forget the San Diego libraries offer a summer reading program where children receive a special prize just by reading books over the summer. Several libraries - including the La Jolla Library - are open daily!

Technology & STEAM

The La Jolla Cluster (comprised of the three La Jolla elementary schools, Muirlands Middle School, and La Jolla High School) has made STEAM an education priority for students of all ages. They have compiled a list of resources just for elementary school children. The Foundation also has grade level technology links that will help students work on math, literacy, and typing.

Want to learn more about the type of testing third, fourth and fifth graders take. Go to the Smarter Balance site to familiarize yourself with the testing methods and questions.

All families with enrolled students at Torrey Pines Elementary now have access to the Foundation site. Please check your email for a confirmation email. For gmail accounts, TPES-related communications may be going into the 'Promotions' folder and NOT in your Inbox. Please take a moment to take a look. If you are still not receiving emails, please contact our Communications team asap.

To receive E-Twig communications, you must have submitted a TPES Foundation form. If you have not already completed a form, please download the TPES Foundation Form here to obtain login access to the website, school directory and to sign-up for our electronic newsletter.

TPES parents who are having difficulty logging on can reset their password on their login screen or can follow up with our Webmaster at

We are in the process of cleaning out our student database and removing last year's information (including class pictures) over the summer. As a result, portions of the site will not be accessible from July 13th until the beginning of the year. Families new to the Torrey Pines community can expect to receive access to the site the first week in September.
