&lt;p&gt;Join us for a wonderful evening of food, music and a visit to your children's classroom!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Program Agenda:&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;5:00 – 6:00 – Dinner and snack items will be on sale in food court&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;6:00 – 7:30 – Classrooms, science room, art room, library, plus musical performances in auditorium will be open for visitors.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;6:00 – 7:10 – Choral Music performances by grade level in auditorium. &lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;This will not look like the Winter Concert.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; These will be separate performances with each grade level rotating in the auditorium.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; Only the kinder teachers will be walking their students to the auditorium.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;When the students finish their one song, the parents and students will leave to visit classrooms.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;They are also welcome to watch other grade levels perform.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

The teachers will assemble their students to perform &lt;b&gt;but will not be responsible for them after&lt;/b&gt; &lt;b&gt;the performance&lt;/b&gt;.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; The parents are to be responsible for them.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

'60s-themed to go with the Beatles songs we will be singing. Feel free to be appropriately creative, but please do not feel the need to buy a new outfit for the occasion.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Calibri','sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 14pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Verdana"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;br&gt;

      <title>SSC/SGT Volunteers Needed for 2012-2013 School Year! (31 May 2012)</title>

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Parent and community volunteers are needed to be part of the School Site Council (SSC) or Site Governance Team (SGT) for the 2012 – 2013 school year.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;We hold joint open meetings the first Tuesday of every month at 8:00 in the morning.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; There are several positions opening up.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; These positions require a &lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;two year commitment.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;The SSC and SGT committees consist of parents and staff members who meet and discuss the direction of Torrey Pines’ programs.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;It is a great way to get involved and help make some of the very important decisions about your child’s education.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  The monthly Spirit Assembly is one way our school honors all children throughout the year. &amp;nbsp;Each teacher recommends children based on academic or behavioral improvement. &amp;nbsp;The child receives recognition and a certificate from Mr. Solo as Student of the Month in front of the assembly. &amp;nbsp;Students are also recognized for milestones in their participation in Running Club. &amp;nbsp;Parents are invited to come and watch.

&lt;p style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" align="center"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span style="LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; FONT-SIZE: 14pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;For Students Entering Grades 2-5 Next Year!&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"&gt;&lt;span style="LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; FONT-SIZE: 12pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;We will be offering a lower and upper grade enrichment option at TPES this summer.. The grade 2-3 option will have Mr. Luxon and Mrs. Gillespie as teachers and the upper grade option will have Mr. Ramirez and Mrs. Chiaro as teachers.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"&gt;&lt;span style="LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; FONT-SIZE: 12pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;The session will run from June 18 – July 13 (no school on Wednesday, July 4&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt;).&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;T&lt;/span&gt;ime:&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;8:30 – 12:00.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; There is an arrangement with the Y to pick up and deliver children for daycare and camps.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;In Mr. Luxon’s room students will read and study fairy tales before composing their own fairy tales using the classroom netbooks.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; Students will have the opportunity to create an interpretation of a famous fairy tale as well as attempt to compose a completely new one on their own.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; In addition to reading and writing students will be taught different art techniques so they can illustrate their writing.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

Students will be exposed to algebraic thinking and problem solving through real life activities.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; Mr. Ramirez will use strategies he learned as the Math Olympiad teacher to challenge students at a high level.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
